Generative AI Policy

Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Technology Information (JAITI) follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs). AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and similar technologies may be used to support manuscript preparation, provided that their use complies with ethical publishing standards.

AI tools may assist authors with language improvement, summarization, paraphrasing, translation, idea organization, and manuscript structuring. However, these tools must not replace the authors' scientific judgment, originality, critical analysis, or accountability. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all submitted content.
Acceptable Uses of AI
Language Editing

Grammar correction, spelling improvement, readability enhancement, and language refinement.

Writing Assistance

Summarizing, paraphrasing, outlining, restructuring, and improving the presentation of ideas.

Translation

Translating manuscripts while ensuring technical terminology and scientific meaning remain accurate.

Research Support

AI may assist with drafting and organization but must not replace scientific reasoning or interpretation.

Limitations and Risks
Bias

AI-generated content may contain social, cultural, or algorithmic bias.

Accuracy

AI may generate inaccurate information, fabricated facts, or non-existent references.

Context

AI may misunderstand context, scientific terminology, idioms, or nuanced expressions.

Training Data

Responses depend on available training data and may not reflect the latest scientific evidence.

Author Responsibilities
  • Authors must disclose the use of AI tools in the Methods or Acknowledgments section when AI has contributed to manuscript preparation.
  • All AI-generated text, figures, tables, references, and analyses must be carefully reviewed, verified, and corrected by the authors before submission.
  • Authors are solely responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and ethical compliance of the submitted manuscript.
  • AI-generated references, quotations, or factual claims must be independently verified using reliable scholarly sources.
  • AI-generated content must not result in plagiarism, copyright infringement, fabricated data, or manipulated research findings.
  • Artificial Intelligence systems, chatbots, or language models cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for published work.
Recommended AI Disclosure Statement
During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [AI TOOL NAME] to assist with [purpose, e.g., language editing, grammar improvement, summarization, or manuscript organization]. The author(s) carefully reviewed, verified, and edited all AI-generated content and accept full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the final manuscript.

A declaration is not required when AI tools are used only for basic grammar checking, spelling correction, reference formatting, or similar editorial assistance that does not generate substantive manuscript content.

Use of Generative AI in Peer Review
Peer review is at the heart of the scientific ecosystem, and the highest standards of integrity should be upheld throughout this process. When a researcher is invited to review another researcher’s manuscript, it must be treated as a confidential document.
Reviewers should not upload a submitted manuscript or any part of it into an AI tool as this may violate the authors’ confidentiality and proprietary rights and, where the paper contains personally identifiable information, may breach data privacy rights.
Reviewers are responsible for the scientific assessment and judgement of the manuscripts they are evaluating. AI tools cannot replace a reviewer’s critical thinking or independent evaluation as there is a risk that the technology may generate incorrect, incomplete, or biased conclusions. Reviewers remain fully responsible and accountable for the content of their review reports.
AI tools may therefore only be used in a supportive capacity, for example to improve the language and structure of a review report, or to assist with a background literature search, provided that confidentiality is maintained and human control and oversight are exercised.
Furthermore, reviewers should only use private AI tools to assist in the review process, as explained below.
Editorial Assessment
Editors and reviewers may evaluate the appropriateness of AI use during the peer-review process. If undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI is identified, the Editorial Board may request clarification, require manuscript revision, reject the submission, issue a correction after publication, or take other actions in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and COPE guidelines.
Responsible AI Use • Transparency • Academic Integrity
JAITI encourages the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence to support scientific writing while maintaining transparency, research integrity, ethical publishing practices, and full author accountability.
