Guidelines for Authors on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)

CHAIN: Journal of Computer Technology, Computer Engineering, and Informatics recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools may be used by authors to support certain aspects of research and manuscript preparation. However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of their submitted work.

Generative AI tools may be used for appropriate purposes such as improving language and grammar, assisting with clarity and readability, generating ideas, or supporting other limited aspects of manuscript preparation. The use of such tools must not replace the authors' intellectual contribution, scientific judgment, or responsibility for the research.

Author Responsibility: Authors must carefully verify all AI-assisted content and remain responsible for any errors, inaccurate information, fabricated references, unsupported claims, or inappropriate material generated by AI tools.

Authors must not use generative AI tools to fabricate or manipulate data, results, references, citations, images, experimental findings, or other scientific evidence. AI-generated content must not be presented as original human-authored work when such use would misrepresent the contribution or integrity of the research.

Authors should disclose the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies when these tools have contributed substantially to the writing, analysis, content generation, or other relevant aspects of manuscript preparation. The disclosure should identify the tool used and describe its role in the preparation of the manuscript.

Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship requires accountability, intellectual contribution, and responsibility that can only be assumed by human authors.

Authors are encouraged to include a Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process in their manuscript when applicable. Failure to disclose relevant AI use or the use of AI for unethical purposes may result in appropriate editorial action.
